Joseph Thomas Mottram

On the 3rd May 1917 L/Cpl Joseph Thomas Mottram no S/7839 serving with the Rifle Brigade was killed in action in France age 26.

Joseph was born in 1891 to Thomas and Emma Mottram nee Keeling they lived in Bagot Street. Joseph joined the colours in Winchester in January of 1915.
In September 1916 he was wounded and was sent back to England to recover. In December 1916 he was fit enough to rejoin his regiment.
March 1916 he was promoted to L/Cpl (unpaid) but sadly was killed… two months later – his body was not found. L/Cpl Mottram’s name appears on Bay 9 Arras Memorial, France.
