  • by

Charles T Preedy was born in 1892 and served with the Durham Light Infantry. Charles sadly lost his life on the 30th of July 1915 from wounds received while training in England. He was buried on the 3rd of August 1915 in St Nicholas Churchyard. Charles was just 23 years old.His brother, George Preedy was born in 1895 and sadly died on the 25th of March 1918, aged 22 while serving with the 18th Queen Mary’s Own Royal Hussars. George is named on the Pozieres Memorial, France.Charles and George were the only sons of Joseph and Maria Preedy and brothers to three sisters. Two separate telegrams were received nearly three years apart to the Preedy family at College Farm telling them of the deaths of their sons – truly heartbreaking.
