The 23rd of September 2018 marks the centenary of the death of Pte. George H. Arnold who was killed in action in France serving with the 8th Battalion North Staffordshire Regt
George Arnold was born to Fanny Arnold in Branston, Staffs in 1886. George spent his younger years with his grandparents Stephen and Hannah Arnold.
On the 1891 census they were living at the Goats Head. In 1904 George married Mary Marston. In 1915 he enlisted with the Staffordshire Yeomanry and stayed with them until August 1918 when he was transferred to the North Staffordshire Regt – sadly in less than a month George lost his life.
Pte Arnold is laid to rest in the Le Touret Military Cemetery, Richebourg-L’avoue, France. George Arnold age 32 left a wife and six children.
